Planned inspection programmes
I can set up repeat checks anywhere from quarterly to annually, building by building. Each visit uses the same 11-point check, so the results can be compared from one round to the next. After repairs, I re-inspect and update the report.
Working around residents
I inspect one door at a time and can fit around care routines if you tell me the times to avoid. Staff only need to give me access to each area in turn.
Hold-open devices and closers
Many doors in care settings are held open during the day, so the closer and any hold-open device need to work every time. I check that each door shuts from any angle and latches, and I note any door held open by a wedge or hook.
Records for your fire risk assessment
Each report sets out every door's pass or fail with photos and the repairs needed, which your fire risk assessor can use as evidence of the door checks. If you send me the current assessment before the visit, I can scope the job against it.

Can inspections fit around residents and care routines?
Yes. Checking one door takes around 10 to 15 minutes, which lets me work room by room around the home's routine. Tell me which areas to avoid at certain times and I will plan around them.
Do you check hold-open devices?
Yes. Where a door has a hold-open device, I check that the door closes and latches fully once it is released. Wedges, hooks and other ways of propping doors open are recorded as faults.
Can housing associations arrange planned inspections?
Yes. Send me the addresses and door counts and I will plan a programme of visits, from quarterly to annual depending on each building. Every property gets its own report.
