Fire door repairs in Birmingham
Fire door repairs in Birmingham start from the faults listed in your inspection report. I quote each repair separately, do the work myself with suitable components and approved repair methods, then check the door again afterwards. To get a quote, start with an inspection: book online or call 07770 643480.

The faults I fix most
Failed doors usually come down to gaps that are too wide or uneven, seals that are missing or damaged, a closer that won't pull the door shut, or damage to the leaf, frame or hinges. Many of these can be put right without replacing the door. What counts as a good gap is explained in Fire door gaps.
Repair or replace?
A door with a worn closer or a missing seal can usually be repaired. If the leaf is damaged beyond repair or isn't fire rated, a new FD30 leaf can go into a suitable existing frame. When the frame is unsound as well, a complete certified doorset is the fix.
Repair prices
These are from prices for the most common repairs, all plus VAT. A new FD30 door leaf into a suitable existing frame is from £250 to £400, and a complete certified doorset with frame is from £500 to £850, depending on specification. Your quote after the inspection gives the exact figure.

Book at this priceSmall fixes on the day
Seals, closers and hinges can often be sorted on the inspection visit, because I carry common parts with me. I only do this if you agree on the day. Anything I can't finish there goes on the quote.
Who does the work
After the inspection I send you a quote, and I do the repairs myself. Parts come mainly from Howdens, where standard items are often ready the same day and others take one day to a week.
Re-check and updated report
When the repairs are finished I return, inspect the doors again and update the report, so the landlord or agent holds proof the work was done. Ongoing checks are covered on Fire door maintenance in Birmingham.
FAQ
Questions I get about fixing doors that failed an inspection.
Which faults can you repair?
I repair wide or uneven gaps, missing or broken fire and smoke seals, closers that have stopped working and damage to doors, frames or hinges. Where a door can't be repaired, I quote for a new leaf or a full doorset instead.
How is a repair quote agreed?
Every repair is quoted separately from the inspection report, door by door. Nothing goes ahead until you agree the quote. Small fixes on the visit itself only happen if you say yes at the time.
Will repaired doors be checked again?
Yes. Once the work is done I go back, check the repaired doors and update the report. That gives you a written record that the faults were dealt with.
